Sodh-Khoj 2025

Sodh-Khoj 2025

In the words of Stephen Hawking, “AI is likely to be either the best or worst thing to happen to humanity.”

In a groundbreaking initiative that defied conventional educational norms, Mayoor School Siliguri orchestrated an intellectually invigorating symposium “Sodh-Khoj” in the serene town of Mirik. More than just a conference, this event was an exploration of the future, a deep dive into the realms of Artificial Intelligence (AI), mental health, and robotics, unearthing the immense potential and perils these domains present to modern society.

With the presence of Mirik Block Development Officer Shreyashree Maiti, distinguished educators, social activists, and conscious minds of civil society, the event set an example of a progressive discourse. Kritika Dahal, Public relations Officer at Mayoor School Siliguri, the moderator of the program, guided the audience through a riveting discussion on the challenges and promises of AI, the silent crisis of mental health, and the boundless possibilities within robotics.

AI: A Boon or a Bane? As Sachin Chettri facilitated the session, it became evident that AI is not just a technological boon but a phenomenon reshaping human existence. The insightful deliberations by Anika Gupta, Rasik Chettri, and Rejina Gurung revealed the dual nature of AI: an extraordinary tool unlocking infinite possibilities yet an enigma posing ethical dilemmas and socio-economic repercussions.

The discussion underscored this very paradox—where AI stands as both a savior and a potential disruptor. The panelists dissected the implications of ChatGPT and advanced automation, analyzing their transformative impact on the education system, employment sector, and human creativity.

Mental Health in the Age of Digital Domination With technology consuming every aspect of life, mental well-being has become a silent casualty. The session highlighted the escalating anxiety, digital dependency, and information overload plaguing modern generations. The need for a harmonious balance between technological advancements and psychological resilience was deeply emphasized.

As Buddha once proclaimed, “The mind is everything. What you think, you become.” In an age where constant connectivity often leads to mental chaos, the discourse urged institutions, parents, and students to cultivate mindfulness, digital detox, and emotional intelligence as vital survival tools.

The Robotic Renaissance: Beyond Human Limitations The event took an exhilarating turn as Chirag Tibrewal from Shaping Ideas painted a vivid picture of robotics as the cornerstone of futuristic innovation. He illustrated how automation, AI-powered machinery, and robotics are not mere science fiction but tangible realities redefining industries, healthcare, and even human companionship.

Brijesh Chettri, the Digital Communication Officer of Mayoor School, delved into the pivotal role AI plays in revolutionizing the education system, making learning more dynamic, inclusive, and tailored to individual needs. Meanwhile, Divyani Mukhia, the counsellor for Mayoor School,  illuminated the audience on the ethos and vision of Mayoor School Siliguri, reinforcing the institution’s commitment to progressive education.

The ripple effect of Sodh-Khoj was undeniable. Nirmal Singar, a respected educator and sportsman from Mirik, passionately articulated the profound benefits of such workshops—not just for students, but for parents, educators, and professionals alike. He affirmed that these dialogues are crucial for equipping society with the awareness and adaptability required to thrive in a tech-dominated future.

A Clarion Call for Awareness & Action On behalf of Mayoor School, Kritika Dahal reinforced the imperative need for such intellectual congregations in the Darjeeling hills. She extended heartfelt gratitude to the visionaries, speakers, and supporters who made this event possible, urging all to embrace a future where technology and humanity walk hand in hand.

As Albert Einstein wisely said, “The measure of intelligence is the ability to change.”

In an era where the world is being reshaped by AI, robotics, and digital revolutions, Sodh-Khoj stands strong to pursue the power of knowledge, dialogue, and innovation. It was not just an event—it was a movement toward a future that is informed, prepared, and resilient.
